Argyropelecus lynchus hawaiensis Schultz 1961, Proc. U. S. Natl. Mus. 112(3449):615, fig. 12.  Type locality: Mauna Loa lava flow, Kona, Hawaii, Hawaiian Islands.   Paratype: SIO H53-372 (1, 52 mm SL).  Remarks: The correct spelling of the species name is lychnus
